November 2, 2007

What a fabulous time of year this is! The sun is still so warm but the evenings are cool and delightful. BUT when the breeze dies down, look out for the mosquitoes -- day or night. P&B came down with Reba for the weekend and she and Zeela had a wonderful time. The people went to Apalach on Friday afternoon for the Seafood Festival (admission is free on Friday). Dogs were not allowed this year so M&P took Reba back home while B&I checked out all the craft vendors. We bought a couple of things and official Seafood Festival teeshirts. Then we ate fried shrimp, grouper, hushpuppies and sweet potato fries. Topped off with those fabulous apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream. Exploding, we took one more turn around the crafts and then headed home after a quick stop at the Pig for a few necessities. When we got home we took the dogs down to the beach for a sunset romp that was enjoyed by all.

4 Weeks Old... Maybe 5

Found dancing in the middle of the Waukeenah Highway early one Monday morning mid September. I could not 'shoo' her out of the road. That day, she won the Puppy Lottery. I got a towel from the back of my car and picked her up -- she was 3.1 pounds of mutt -- dirty, wet, covered in fleas and canine lice. The day after this picture was taken, the vet told us about the lice. He was so excited to show them to me -- first in his reference book and then under the microscope where they looked like tiny little water buffaloes. He said, "Oh, don't worry. They're species specific. They won't infest humans." Well, thank god. I can deal with fleas all day long.
